Ok, ok, I know. Another smoothie recipe. But wait. This one is different. It’s…

PURPLE!

Dude, dude, dude, duuuuuuuuuuuuude. Purple Smoothie. Cool, huh?

And since I now need a new red/purple drink… UGH!

You see, I decided last weekend to “test” whether or not I could have a glass of red wine or not. I had been feeling pretty good for a while so I though, maybe I am healed enough to have a half glass. What could it hurt?

Holy mother of pearl! That was a HUGE mistake. Within an hour and a half, I was covered in hives. I mean covered. I had to take a Benadryl to get to sleep because I couldn’t stop itching. (Of course this happened as I was going to bed.)

The whole next day I had a raging sinus headache that just took out the right side of my head. Now I get migraines every once in a while, so I don’t really complain about regular headaches that much. I was a complaining fool last Sunday. OMG!

And I have also figured out that my body doesn’t heal from a reaction if I am drinking coffee at all. I have been off of coffee this summer but started back up again due to school starting again. (Why do they have to start it so dang early?)

So, my nausea has been back all week. Yuck! The skin on my thumb pealed and cracked.

OK, I will stop. Let’s just say this girl will not be drinking red wine or coffee again. At least not for a really long time.

Let that be a word of warning to any of you that might want to “test” an allergy. Or if you think someone you know may be faking it or not “really” allergic to something. Or not “really” gluten intolerant.

This sucks, and I would not wish it on anyone. But, but, but… (he-he, I said, “but.”)

This smoothie, along with some of my others, like Green Smoothie for Health, have saved me from myself this week. For some reason, a good full-of-vitamins smoothie is the only thing that made the nausea go away. (Or at least be tolerable.)

I hope you had a great weekend. We celebrated a bunch of family birthdays, including my oldest’s.

Can you believe he’s 6? Well, he will be this weekend on his actual birthday. At which time our house will be filled with a TON of 6 year olds. Whew!

Oh, and it’s a costume party, and he deemed I am going to be Batgirl. Wish me luck on making that outfit. I think I got it figured out, but we will see.

Happy Monday!

Looks yummy! Do you peel and/or cook the beet?

      Hi Iris,

It was super yummy! I peeled but did not cook the beet. It blended up pretty well. And I just love the color.

The color of this smoothie is gorgeous! I love purple cabbage but my bf baby doesn’t tolerate it well. I’d love to try this though 🙂

      Hi Sharon,

You could always try it without the cabbage. It won’t be as purple, but ti will be pretty sweet.
