One of the things I cannot eat, right now, is vinegar. It is started with yeast, and even the distilling process does not take all of the yeast out.

Do you know what has vinegar in it? Just about every condiment ever made. Yeah. Seriously. Look at the labels.

Mayo – yep, vinegar.

Mustard – oh yeah, vinegar.

Catchup – you better believe it, baby. Vinegar.

You know what I get to have on my hamburger or hot dog? Guacamole.

Now, don’t get me wrong. Having the excuse to eat guacamole everyday is pretty cool. (What else am I going to have?) But after the last month and a half, I really just want a dollop of catchup on my   $&%!&(%   @#&%^@   burger. Or mustard.

So that led me on a quest to find some kind of replacement for condiments. (I miss my condiments. Have I said that?)

For some reason, I focused on hummus. You can pretty much make hummus taste like what ever you put with it. So I came up with a list of things to try… mustard seeds, tomato and sugar, etc.

Naturally, when thinking of anything food related, be it savory or sweet, my mind goes to… chocolate.

CHOCOLATE!

Doesn’t yours? It should!

Anyway, I saw that fruit hummus is all the rage. All the cool kids are doin’ it.

Since we have been going through a half flat of strawberries every week. (Sometimes twice a week.) I thought what about Strawberry Hummus?

NO! Wait! Chocolate Strawberry Hummus. I mean, really. Chocolate Strawberry Anything is awesome, so hummus must be pretty good.

But I was skeptical. My mind kept going to the garlic laden hummus you get in Greek restaurants. And adding chocolate and strawberries to that.

Hmmm. Maybe not.

But I decided to give it a shot anyway. OMG!

Seriously, OMG! This stuff is amazing.

I cut up some peaches and drizzled poured it over the top because I was having a serious chocolate craving. It totally satisfied it. No foolin’.

I was shocked, staring at my empty plate. My chocolate craving was gone. I ran to the Big Man and just had to tell him how awesome my creation was.

“Dude, dude, duuuuuuuude!” (Yes, I live in California.) “This is sooooooooo awesome.” (Yep. Still live in California.)

“That’s wonderful.”

“No, seriously! This is amazing!” I was very excited. “I can eat this, and it’s GOOD for me. COOL!”

So, if you are daring. And I DARE you to try this. It’s really easy to make. Especially if you have a food processor. Just a few ingredients thrown in , and turn it on. BAM!

Done.

Let me know in the comments below if you dared to try it. You really won’t be sorry.

      Hi Linda,

I hope this works as well for you as it did for me. I kept think I was in another dimension or something that hummus was tasting so good with my fruit. I ate it all up in two days. But those little chickpeas really do take the flavor of whatever you put them with. 😉 Please let me know how it works for you.
