Apple Butter Recipe (Gluten Free, Dairy Free and Vegan)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 quarts Applesauce
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 tbs Cinnamon
  • 1 tbs Cardamom

Instructions

  1. Add applesauce, sugar, cinnamon and cardamom to your slow cooker.
  2. Cook on low for 10 – 16 hours, depending on your slow cooker temperature. (Make sure the lid is not tight so moisture can escape and the apple butter can reduce.)
  3. Check on it every few hours stirring occasionally. When it has reduced by about half, you are done.

Notes

For canning – Spoon into warm jars and can in water bath. (I follow the instructions on the bottom of the Ball Jar box, so I am linking to them here. Someday I will do a canning post because I am digging it.)
