Welcome to Media Musings Monday !
Trying out something a little new. Let me know what you think.
I have been blogging for a long time. Since 2009 when I started Glügle Gluten-Free. It was, and is, all about gluten free. Obviously.
I still post there, but it is now more of a place to support my offline consulting. (When I started Tia’s Kitchen, I started putting all new recipes here.)
Then I started a blog where I made video tutorials teaching people how to make simple kids’ crafts. It was really fun, and I got to go back to my acting days in front of a camera. But when LMII came along, it just became too hard to make those videos. The blog is down, but you can still look at the videos on my youtube page.
Anyway, even before I started blogging, I was a computer nerd. Grew up with a computer nerd for a dad, which was rare in the 80s. So, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Then I married a computer nerd, so I was really stuck. But I don’t mind. I love it. Even got a college degree in it.
Basically, my background is computers. So when I started blogging, I learned a lot about what goes on behind the scenes. So much so that my “tech-guy” (aka my husband) didn’t even have a hand in my latest blog, Tia’s Kitchen. I did everything myself. And I have been teaching myself more and more about what to do on the “computer” side.
Plus, I get asked a lot about how to do different things on the “computer” side from other food bloggers, as well as general bloggers. How to install a plugin. How to find the right plugin. How to schedule social media. Etc.
So I figured that instead of answering questions from friends and bloggers, etc. one at a time, I would start posting what I have learned/am still learning here.
Monday Media Musings is going to be a weekly posting about anything non-recipe. The recipes are still coming. Don’t worry about that. (My head is bursting with recipes I want to try. I wish I had more time to work on them. You should see my list.) But this is just when I will post “other” stuff.
Some examples of categories are Pinterest, Photography, Facebook, SEO, Blog Security, Google Analytics, etc.
Oh yeah, photography, too.
One of the things I really didn’t take seriously until Tia’s Kitchen was my photography. I would just use my point and shoot to take a “whatever” picture and slap it in the post. After reading Tasty Food Photography, I got serious about my photography, and it shows. Each time I learn something new, I want to shout it from the rooftops because I want anyone who takes pictures to know about it. So photography tips will also be included in Media Musings Monday.
And for those who just want recipes and don’t want any of this “techy” information, I will be creating a separate newsletter in the near future. There will be a recipe newsletter, a Media Musings Monday newsletter and a both newsletter. Look for that email in your inbox in the next couple of weeks.
Enjoy your week. I will see you on Friday for a recipe and on Monday for Media Musings.
